How open resolvers can impact your IP reputation.
What is this and why are we alerting to it?
Open DNS resolvers are misconfigured servers that respond to any DNS request. Attackers can use them to overwhelm systems with traffic during Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Open resolvers can damage organisation’s reputation, lead to blacklisting, and affect email deliverability.
How do I resolve this?
KYND will alert you if IP addresses in your organisation have been linked to open resolvers. This means it responds to DNS requests from any source, which could be exploited by attackers to flood systems with excessive traffic. Openresolvers can be listed in DNS-based blacklists, negatively impacting the client’s reputation and email deliverability. Immediate action is needed to secure this IP address and adjust your DNS settings to restrict access. This will help prevent it from being used in such attacks. Check your KYND ON account or report for a full list of the affected IP and further information about the risk.
