KYND ON offers continuous monitoring, but how often does it re-scan and update your dashboard?
KYND ON constantly monitors your cyber risks and alerts you to new and potential risks as they arise, as opposed to KYND START which is a standalone report that captures and represents a snapshot of cyber risks on the day and time when the report has been created.
Different elements of risk in the KYND ON service are monitored at various rates over a repeating 30-day period. Based on the different data sources we use and the severity of associated risks, we update information we discover about an organisation within KYND as appropriate - more details on this below.
The frequency of monitoring for different risk factors:
Domain risks: MONTHLY
Domain risks are updated less frequently in KYND but this is because the data source itself updates less frequently, so more frequent checking of the data has less impact for users.
Service risks: minimum MONTHLY
Service risks similarly are updated less frequently in KYND and we are dependent on the update frequency of the data source we use.
Other data sources and associated risks are updated more frequently, for example:
Data Breach risks: INSTANTLY
This can be thought of as a 'push notification' to the KYND service. The data breach monitoring is continuous and instant.
Phishing & Malware risks: DAILY
Phishing & Malware risks are updated at the same rate as the data sources we use.
Certificate risks: Weekly
Your certificates will update depending on how far away the expiry date is from the current date. To find out more about why certificate risks matter, please see our article on "Why expiring Certificate Risks are a security issue".
Email Security risks: WEEKLY
We query this information directly from the email servers and perform these queries weekly. However, the query response depends on 'DNS propagation' (i.e. we may get an old response to a query to an email server if DNS propagation has not yet occurred).
Cloud Security risks: DYNAMIC
This section updates dynamically as and when we receive updated information about your Office365 environment.
Ransomware risks: DYNAMIC
Ransomware section synthesises risk factors from other KYND categories (e.g. Services, Email Security) and the user's responses to KYND's questions relating to security processes, training & policies. This feature updates when those other risk factors update and/or when a user updates their responses to KYND's Ransomware questions.
